Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how The Meier Co. (“we,” “us,” “our”) handles information in connection with our mobile applications, watch companion apps, websites, and digital templates. The short version: we do not have a server that stores your data, and we do not collect personally identifiable information about you. The longer version, including what our apps access on your device and how third-party services we integrate with handle data, is below.
What’s in this document
1. What we don’t collect
The Meier Co does not operate a server that stores user data for our mobile apps. Specifically:
- We do not collect, store, or transmit personally identifiable information about you.
- We do not have user accounts. You do not create a username or password to use our apps.
- We do not see your payment method, billing address, credit card number, Google account credentials, or Apple ID. Payments are processed entirely by Google Play (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS).
- We do not track you across apps or websites.
- We do not sell, rent, or share user data with data brokers.
User-entered data inside our apps — cruise dates and itineraries in All Aboard, game progress and high scores in OhFark and Dirty30, favorites, folders, reminders, the caregiver PIN, theme choices, and weather location in Senior Assistant — is stored on your device, not on any server we operate.
2. What our apps access on your device
While we don’t collect or transmit personal information, our apps do access data on your device in order to function. Accessing data on a device and transmitting data off the device are different things; Google Play’s Data Safety form requires both to be disclosed. The table below lists what each kind of access is used for. None of this data is transmitted to The Meier Co.
| Access | Used by | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Contacts | Senior Assistant | To populate the Favorite People list, and to match incoming-call numbers against contacts so the dialer can show a name and photo instead of a raw number. Used at the moment it’s needed; not stored, not transmitted. |
| Calendar | Senior Assistant | To populate the Today strip on the home screen and the Calendar tile with upcoming appointments from device-installed accounts (Google, Outlook, Exchange) that you select. Read on each screen open; not stored on a server, not transmitted. |
| Notifications (NotificationListenerService) | Senior Assistant | To filter notifications according to the caregiver’s allowlist. Senior Assistant sees the source app of each notification to decide whether to allow it. The contents of notifications are not read, stored, or transmitted by us. |
| Phone state / call metadata (InCallService) | Senior Assistant (when set as default phone app) | To render the big-button incoming, in-call, and missed-call screens. Senior Assistant sees the caller’s phone number (used to look up the contact), call state, and call duration. None of this is stored or transmitted off the device. |
| SMS state | Senior Assistant (when caregiver enables non-contact SMS blocking) | To know which contacts are in your contact list so that SMS notifications from non-contacts can be silenced. We do not read SMS message content. |
| Photos / Camera | All Aboard, Senior Assistant | Only when you explicitly pick a photo (e.g., for a home-screen photo wallpaper in Senior Assistant, or for a travel document attachment in All Aboard). We do not browse your photo library otherwise. |
| Alarms / Schedule exact alarm | All Aboard | To schedule the cruise-departure alarm at the time you set. Local to the device. |
| Notification post permission | All apps (Android 13+) | To display notifications you have requested (e.g., a reminder firing at the time you set). |
| Internet | All apps | For weather forecasts (Open-Meteo), Google Play Billing entitlement checks, Play Games leaderboards (where applicable), and AdMob banner ads (where applicable). See section 4 for third-party detail. |
| Wear OS Data Layer | All Aboard (with paired watch) | To sync cruise countdown data between the phone and the paired Wear OS smartwatch. Communication is device-to-device through Google Play Services; we do not have a server in the middle. |
None of the data in the table above is transmitted to a server operated by The Meier Co. We do not have one. Data either stays on your device, flows through Google Play Services to a paired watch, or — for genuinely third-party services like weather — is sent to the named third party with the minimum information needed for that service to respond.
3. Senior Assistant — detail by permission
Senior Assistant is the most permission-rich app in the catalog because it replaces the home screen, phone, lock screen, and notification handling of an Android device. Each permission and why it exists, in plain language:
Contacts
Read once when the Favorite People screen is open (so the caregiver can pick favorites) and again when a call comes in (so the dialer screen can display the caller’s name and photo). No contact data is sent off the device. No backup, no sync, no upload. Removing Senior Assistant or revoking the Contacts permission immediately stops the access.
Calendar
Senior Assistant reads events from the calendars the caregiver chooses in Calendar Sources. Events appear in the Today strip and the in-app Calendar tile. No event content is sent off the device. The calendar accounts themselves (Google, Outlook, Exchange) are managed by Android, not by us — we read what Android exposes to apps with the user’s permission.
Notification access
Senior Assistant uses Android’s NotificationListenerService, which Google designates as a sensitive permission. We use it for exactly one purpose: to filter notifications according to the allowlist the caregiver configures. When a notification arrives, we check the source app against the allowlist and either let it through (the system shows it normally) or suppress it (Senior Assistant dismisses it).
We do not read the contents of notifications. We do not store, log, copy, or transmit any notification data. We do not analyze notifications for any other purpose. We do not provide this data to any third party.
You can revoke notification access at any time: Android Settings → Apps → Special app access → Notification access → Senior Assistant.
Default phone app role (InCallService)
If the caregiver makes Senior Assistant the default phone app, Android grants it the InCallService role. This lets Senior Assistant render the big-button incoming-call, in-call, and missed-call screens instead of the stock phone UI.
In this role, Senior Assistant sees: the caller’s phone number (used to match against contacts to display a name and photo), call duration (for the in-call timer), and call state (ringing, active, ended). None of this is transmitted off the device. The missed-call card on the home screen is rendered locally and is dismissed when tapped or expires.
You can return the default phone app to the system dialer at any time through the in-app caregiver settings or through Android’s default-apps picker.
Weather
Senior Assistant uses Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) to fetch the current temperature and forecast. We send the city name the caregiver chose in Weather Location (for example, “Atlanta, GA”). We do not send GPS coordinates. We do not send any device, account, or user identifier. Open-Meteo logs requests as part of running its public weather service; their terms are at open-meteo.com/en/terms.
Subscriptions and Lifetime
Subscriptions (Monthly, Annual) and the Lifetime one-time purchase are processed through Google Play Billing. Google Play handles authentication, payment, and renewal. We do not see your payment method, billing address, or Google account credentials. When you purchase, Google notifies our app that an entitlement is active, and we cache that on your device so the app knows to unlock features.
Google Family Group + Maps Live Location Sharing
The Senior Assistant Help article describes how to set up Google Family Group and Google Maps Live Location Sharing so a caregiver can see the senior’s location on their own phone. These are Google services. Senior Assistant does not request location permission, does not transmit location data, and does not connect to Google’s location infrastructure. The caregiver configures Google’s apps directly; data flows are governed by Google’s privacy policy.
Other on-device data
All other Senior Assistant state — the caregiver PIN (stored as a hash), favorites, app folder choices, reminders, theme and wallpaper, notification allowlist, calendar source selections, emergency contact, weather location — is stored only on the device.
4. Third-party services
Our apps integrate with the following third-party services. Each is governed by its provider’s privacy policy.
Google Play Billing
All Android in-app purchases — Senior Assistant subscriptions and Lifetime, All Aboard remove-ads, OhFark Deluxe, Dirty30 remove-ads — are processed by Google Play Billing. We do not see payment details. See Google’s privacy policy.
Apple App Store / Apple In-App Purchase
iOS in-app purchases (All Aboard remove-ads, OhFark Deluxe, future iOS releases) are processed by Apple. We do not see payment details. See Apple’s privacy policy.
Google AdMob
All Aboard, OhFark, and Dirty30 may display banner ads through Google AdMob until ad-removal is purchased. We configure AdMob to serve non-personalized ads only. Ads are not based on your past behavior, browsing history, advertising identifier, or interests. AdMob uses a minimal amount of contextual information to display ads. See Google’s ads policy. Senior Assistant does not display ads at all.
Google Play Games
OhFark and Dirty30 optionally integrate with Google Play Games for leaderboards and achievements. This is opt-in. If you do not sign in to Play Games inside the game, no data is sent. See Google’s privacy policy.
Open-Meteo (weather)
Senior Assistant and All Aboard use Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com), a free public weather API. We send the city name to retrieve the forecast. We do not send personal information. See Open-Meteo’s terms.
Affiliate links (All Aboard)
All Aboard includes optional links to travel websites through the Commission Junction affiliate network. We do not transmit any data you have entered into All Aboard to the affiliate network. If you tap an affiliate link, the destination travel site (e.g., Expedia) may use cookies or other technologies in accordance with their own privacy policy. We may receive a referral commission if you complete a booking after tapping the link.
Etsy
Our spreadsheet templates are sold through Etsy. When you purchase from Etsy, Etsy handles the transaction and your information per their privacy policy. We receive only the information Etsy provides sellers (typically order number and shipping/contact information for buyer outreach). See Etsy’s privacy policy.
5. Data storage & retention
Because we do not have a server that stores your data, the question of retention is largely device-local:
- On-device data (settings, favorites, reminders, game progress, etc.) persists until you delete it from within the app or until you uninstall the app. Uninstalling generally deletes app data, though some devices preserve a backup through Google Drive backup or iCloud — those are user-controlled at the OS level.
- Google Play / Apple App Store records of your purchases are retained by Google or Apple per their policies; we have no control over the retention period.
- Weather queries to Open-Meteo are part of Open-Meteo’s standard service logs.
- Email correspondence with us (e.g., support@themeierco.com) is retained until we delete it. We do not use email addresses for marketing or share them with third parties.
6. Children’s privacy
Our products are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Senior Assistant is specifically intended for adults — both the caregiver setting up the device and the senior using it.
If you believe a child has provided personal information through one of our products, please contact us so we can address it.
7. Your choices & how to revoke access
You can revoke any permission granted to our apps through Android or iOS Settings. Specifically for Senior Assistant:
| To revoke | Where |
|---|---|
| Contacts access | Android Settings → Apps → Senior Assistant → Permissions → Contacts → Don’t allow |
| Calendar access | Android Settings → Apps → Senior Assistant → Permissions → Calendar → Don’t allow |
| Notification access (Listener) | Android Settings → Apps → Special app access → Notification access → Senior Assistant → Off |
| Default phone app role | Android Settings → Apps → Default apps → Phone app → choose another |
| Default launcher (home app) | Android Settings → Apps → Default apps → Home app → choose another |
| All data & settings | Android Settings → Apps → Senior Assistant → Storage → Clear data, or uninstall the app |
| Subscription (Google Play) | Play Store → profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → Senior Assistant → Cancel |
Revoking a permission may disable the feature it powers (e.g., revoking Contacts disables Favorite People). It will not delete your data within the app — you have to clear data or uninstall for that.
8. International users
The Meier Co is based in the United States. If you use our products from outside the US, you understand that your information (to the extent any is processed by our limited integrations) may be processed in the US. Our use of third-party services is governed by those services’ respective privacy policies, which may apply different rules in different jurisdictions.
If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with comprehensive data-protection law: because we do not collect personal data on a server, our role under those laws is limited. The third-party services we integrate with (Google, Apple, Open-Meteo, Etsy) act as their own data controllers and are responsible for compliance with their respective obligations to you.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when the most recent update was made. Material changes will be communicated through the app or via the Google Play / Apple App Store listing on the next app update. Continued use of the apps after a change indicates acceptance.
10. Contact
Questions, concerns, or requests about privacy: support@themeierco.com.
We respond to legitimate questions and access/deletion requests within a reasonable time. Because we do not maintain user accounts or a server of user data, most “delete my data” requests are satisfied by uninstalling the relevant app from your device, but we will work with you if more is needed.
